Welcome "Girls to Women" Health Care and North Dallas!
Thank you for visiting the To Life! website. I am very pleased to bring our work to the North Dallas area, and would like to thank doctors Sugerman and Rubin-Remer of “Girls to Women” for inviting me to their wonderful office space. For the past 20 years my work with seriously overweight adults has been focused in Southwest Dallas County. This has been, and will continue to be, my laboratory for clinical research. However, now I’m expanding To Life! into North Dallas and Mansfield.
To Life! is based on the premise that obesity is a disease with no possibility for successful treatment without the application of a sound plan. Even though we all wish for a quick fix, experience tells us there isn't one. With more than 100 million adults overweight and nearly half obese, the U.S. truly is in the midst of an epidemic. We are way past the point of saying excess accumulated fat on the human body has anything to do with a lack of courage, intellect, desire or willpower. Given the devastating physical and emotional consequences of obesity, if losing weight and learning how to keep it off were simply a matter of eating less and exercising more, everyone would already be doing it. The cost is just too high to be satisfied with the status quo – or to give up!
Fortunately, nearly all of the medical and emotional problems associated with obesity begin to get better with losing as little as ten percent of current body weight. So that is our first goal. We're not about "dream weights," we are about “healthier weights," which takes work. It takes the development of weight management skills such as label reading, recordkeeping and pedometer use. It also takes interacting with weight-loss experts multiple times each month, for a minimum of one year. All of this is To Life!, a proven lifestyle change system that really works.
